Module 03 / Projects

Roadmaps that stay honest.

Live Part of Atlas

A roadmap is only as good as the data behind it. Projects builds the timeline from the milestones and tasks underneath it, highlights the critical path, and measures slip against the plan you saved. You stop maintaining a slide.

What it does

The forecast you can actually ship.

Projects is a live timeline over real tasks. It rolls milestones up from the work, highlights the critical path, and shows how far each date has moved from the plan you saved.

Five capabilities

  • Milestone roll-up

Milestone progress rolls up from the tasks beneath it, so it reflects the work, not a status field someone forgot to update.

  • Baselines and slip

Capture a baseline when the plan is agreed, then see how far every milestone has moved from it as work changes.

  • Dependencies and critical path

Task dependencies feed the Gantt timeline. The critical path is highlighted, so you can see which delay moves the end date.

  • Risks and status updates

Log project risks with a roll-up that suggests a red, amber, or green status. Post status updates where stakeholders see them.

  • Portfolios

Group projects into portfolios and initiatives to see milestones and health across teams in one view.

How it works

Roadmap as a function.

The roadmap is built from the milestones and tasks underneath it, not a document you maintain by hand. Three steps.

STEP 01M-318 Read replica migrationENG-1276 (4d)ENG-1280 (6d)SEC-318 (2d)DOC-44 (1d)milestonerolls up

Compose milestones from tasks

A milestone groups tasks under a target date. Its progress rolls up from those tasks, so the status reflects the work.

Compare against a baseline

Capture a baseline when the plan is agreed. As tasks move, Atlas computes how far each milestone has slipped from it.

Share a status update

Post a status update with the timeline and risks beside it. On paid plans, Ask Atlas can summarize what shipped to start your draft.

Key features

Six things, all live.

Each capability below is part of Projects in Atlas today.

Portfolios and initiatives

Group projects across teams into portfolios and initiatives, with milestones and health in one frame.

Workload and time

See workload by person and log time against tasks. Project time totals export as CSV.

Critical path

Dependencies across tasks drive the Gantt. The critical path is highlighted so the real blockers stand out.

Baselines

Save point-in-time snapshots of the plan and measure slip against any of them as the project moves.

Templates and custom fields

Start from a project template. Add custom fields per project so each team tracks what it needs.

Exports and recovery

Export a project as CSV, PDF, or a deck. Archived and deleted projects can be restored.

Connected

What feeds the roadmap.

Projects reads from the work underneath it, so the timeline reflects what actually happened.

Roadmap is downstream of the work

Projects is built from tasks and milestones, with meeting action items, goals, and form intake feeding in. Progress comes from the tasks, so if the work did not happen, the milestone does not move.

Comparison

Projects vs. Asana.

Asana is a mature work management tool. Atlas Projects sits in one workspace with your CRM, contracts, docs, and meetings.

FAQ

Common questions.

Six things people ask before adopting Projects.

Where does progress come from?

From the tasks under each milestone. When tasks close, the milestone roll-up updates. Estimates are optional, and the workload and velocity views in Analytics are built from completed tasks.

How are dependencies modeled?

A task can block or be blocked by another task, and you can define your own relation kinds. The timeline draws those edges and highlights the critical path, so you can see which delay moves the end date.

Can we import from Jira or Asana?

Yes. Atlas imports from Jira, Asana, Trello, Notion, and CSV. How much history comes across depends on the source, so most teams move one pilot project before the rest.

Do executives need their own seats to view roadmaps?

Atlas separates editors from viewers, and the viewer allowance for each plan is shown inside the product. You can also export a project as CSV, PDF, or a deck to share outside the workspace.

How do you keep the AI from inventing progress?

Progress comes from tasks, not from AI. On paid plans, Ask Atlas answers from your workspace data, and any agent action needs approval and is recorded in the audit trail.

Can we see how far the plan has moved?

Yes. Capture a baseline when the plan is agreed. Atlas computes the slip for each milestone against it, and you can keep several baselines over the life of a project.

Related

Pairs well with.

Projects shines once Tasks, Docs, and Analytics are live in the same workspace.

Honest limits

Who this is not for.

Projects keeps timelines tied to the work underneath them. If you manage construction schedules or capital programs that need earned-value tracking and resource leveling across a deep dependency tree, a dedicated project-controls tool will serve you better. Projects plans software, operations, and business work for one team or a large enterprise.
