Module 02 / Tasks

One task, fourviews.

Live Part of Atlas

Tasks are the records of work in progress in Atlas. Capture them in plain language or by voice, see them as a list, board, calendar, or timeline, and link them to the projects, meetings, and deals they belong to. The same setup works for one person or a large organization.

What it does

Five things, actually done.

Most task tools store text and dates. Tasks keeps the record and its context together: who owns it, what blocks it, and which project, meeting, or deal it belongs to.

  • 01
    Captures work from a sentence

Type or say what needs doing. Natural-language and voice capture fill in the title, owner, and due date. Fix anything it got wrong.

  • 02
    Shows one record four ways

List, board, calendar, and timeline views read the same task. Drag a card or change a date, and every view updates.

  • 03
    Keeps context on the task

Keep links to issues and pull requests on a task. Meeting action items import as tasks. Comments and subtasks sit on the same record.

  • 04
    Drafts the standup digest

On paid plans, Ask Atlas drafts a per-person standup from the tasks themselves: what moved, what is due, and what is blocked.

  • 05
    Proposes a schedule

Auto-schedule suggests calendar time for open tasks around meetings and focus blocks, and reflows missed work. Nothing moves until you apply it.

How it works

Three steps, one graph.

Every task is one record in Atlas. Links connect it to people, projects, pull requests, meetings, accounts, and deals, so the context travels with the work.

01"fix billing by Fri"ENG-1284HIGH · due Friwhoduepriproj→ owner

Capture in a sentence

Type a line or use voice capture. Atlas picks out the owner, due date, priority, and project. You edit anything it got wrong.

Keep the context attached

Issue and pull request links, meeting action items, comments, and subtasks sit on the task. Dependencies show what is blocked.

Report from the record

On paid plans, Ask Atlas drafts a standup digest from what actually moved, and Automations can call a webhook when a status changes.

Key features

The full surface area.

Tasks ships as part of Atlas. Same identity. Same permissions. Same audit trail. AI and automation features below are on paid plans.

Dependencies and subtasks

Blocks and blocked-by links, subtasks, and custom relation kinds, with progress rolled up from below.

Four views, one source

List, board, calendar, and timeline. Same task, same edits, no syncing between tools.

Standup digest

Ask Atlas drafts each person's standup from their own tasks. Available on paid plans.

Access control

Private or shared tasks and role-based access. Custom roles are on paid plans.

Recurring rules

Repeat a task daily, weekly, or monthly, and preview the next dates before you save.

Search and saved views

Find tasks in global search next to projects and deals. Save the filters you use most.

Time tracking

Run a timer on a task or log time by hand. Daily and project totals export as CSV.

Bulk actions

Change status, owner, priority, or due date on many tasks at once. Undo is instant.

Imports

Move work in from Asana, Trello, Jira, Notion, or CSV, or bulk-import tasks through the API.

Connected

Linked across Atlas.

Tasks sit at the center of Atlas. Other modules create and link to them, so work from a meeting, a deal, or a form lands in one list.

Modules that create and link tasks

An action item from Meetings, a follow-up from CRM, a submission from Forms, a milestone in Projects. Each lands as a task in the same list, linked back to where it came from.

API

Tasks over REST.

Create, read, update, and list tasks with a personal access token. Idempotency keys make retries safe, and signed webhooks fire on events such as task.created and task.completed.

FAQ

Common questions.

Six things people ask before moving their work into Tasks.

How does Tasks decide who owns new work?

You do. Natural-language capture fills in the owner you name, and Ask Atlas can suggest next actions, but assignment stays with people. Workload views show who is already overloaded before you assign.

What if our team uses Jira or Linear today?

Atlas imports from Jira, Asana, Trello, Notion, and CSV, and the API bulk-imports up to 500 tasks per call. Those are one-time file imports. Linear and Jira connectors are in development, so there is no live sync yet. Most teams move one pilot project first and cut over when they are ready.

Can a task stay private to one person or team?

Yes. A task can be private or shared, and role-based access controls who sees which projects. Custom roles and audit logs are on paid plans.

Can Atlas schedule my tasks for me?

Auto-schedule proposes calendar time for open tasks around your meetings, working hours, and focus blocks. You preview the proposal before applying it, and a missed-work reflow can be reverted.

Can tasks repeat?

Yes. Set a task to repeat daily, weekly, or monthly, and preview the next dates before you save. Each occurrence is its own task with its own status.

Does Tasks work without the rest of Atlas?

Yes. You can start with Tasks and Projects and add other modules later. CRM, Meetings, Automations, and Private AI features such as the standup digest are on paid plans.

Honest limits

Who this is not for.

Tasks is a work tracker inside a broader workspace. It does not route work or close tasks on its own; people assign and close work. If your process depends on capitalized-cost reporting or hundreds of custom workflow states, test it on a pilot project first. Teams of every size use it, and large organizations can contact sales for Enterprise terms.
